Katrina Rebuild
As the cartoon to the right says, the "homeless thing" is still not over. The footings are in and the walls should go up on Monday May 5 for our new volunteer bunkhouses.
We continue to need skilled volunteers. Please make every effort to recruit skilled work team leaders if your group is mostly unskilled. All of our projects are considered "construction sites" so workers must be at least 18 years old. Should your group include youth under 18, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to participate at the work site. If you bring a youth group, you must coordinate with Patrick Levine (Youth Minister). Currently we ask that groups arriving on Sunday register between 3PM and 4:30PM. If it is necessary to arrive after 8:30PM any day, you will need to make arrangemnets with Alan Kuhn. Space for RV's must be reserved as far in advance as possible, and the RV operator should contact Denise King two days prior to arrival to confirm space. Our normal work hours are 8AM - 5PM Monday - Friday. We do not normally work on Saturday and local supervision is not available on Sunday. Space is limited, so only single size air mattresses are allowed. Please advise couples/families that sleeping rooms are normally designated as male or female.
Below is a list of current projects and some of the work needed:
- Bev Moran: Plumbing, drywall.
- Jimmy Ramsey: Flooring and cabinets.
- Lillian Gray: Finish front and back porches.
